Despite the fact that compulsory education for children in the Emirates begins at the age of 6, many residents of the country send their children to kindergarten at the age of 3. After that, it is easier for the child to adjust to school as they are taught to read, write and count.
Some educational institutions practice a coeducational system, where a child can study there from kindergarten to the last grade of school.
UAE School EducationSchools in the United Arab Emirates are divided into 2 types:
Public schools, as mentioned earlier, are free for the children of citizens of the country and are paid for the children of expatriates. Classes are taught in Arabic. From a certain age, boys are taught separately from girls. After successfully passing exams, graduates receive certificates from the country's Ministry of Education.
Despite the fact that the cost of education in private educational institutions is much higher than in public ones, foreigners prefer to study in them. The main language in which subjects are taught depends on the system, but it is usually English. Private schools work according to their own programs, among which there can be American, Russian, British, French and others.
Before or after the main lessons each child can get additional knowledge in extra-curricular activities (ESA). The more promising and better a school is, the bigger and more interesting is its ECA list.
There is a Russian International School in Dubai, where education is conducted entirely in Russian. Most of its teachers are from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. Upon graduation, students take the Unified State Examination and receive a Russian secondary school diploma.
